Peter Fick was an American freestyle swimmer who competed in the 1936 Olympics. He finished sixth place even though the film showed he was second.

Peter Fick was born on December 22, 1913, in Philadelphia, PA, son of Michael Fick (fomerly Jakym Fik) (1893-1932) and Anna Piaskowski (1899-1954). Both parents were from the Ukraine. His mother was from Malow, Trembowla.

On January 13, 1940, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Peter married to radio actress star, Donna Celeste Damerel, known as Marge. She died by giving birth to a son, Donald Peter Fick, on February 15, 1941.

On June 10, 1941, Peter married to Bette Johnson in Warrenton, Virginia, and divorced her in Dade County in June 1969. And in the same month, he married to Martha Jones.

FICK PETER J, 67, of Miami, passed away on Aug 10th 1980. Mr Fick was the worlds fastest swimmer. He was a member of the US Olympic Teadm 1936. He was the first man to break Johnny Wiesmuller’s Record. He was the recipient of the Emperors Trophy of Japan. He was a star of the Water Follies, in the Swimming Hall of Fame & also in the Helms Hall of Fame in the USN Air Corps Athletic Training Program discharged as a Lt Cmmdr. He was a member of the V F W Post 4530. Survived by son, Don P. Fick of W Va, 3 sisters, Janet Boyle, Helen Frazer both of Pa & Josephine White of Miss and 1 granddaughter.
