Parke R. Philbeck was son of Daniel Augustus 'Gus' Philbeck and Lillie Mae Hawkins. His parents divorced when he was very young. His mother married Jesse Gibbs, and he raised Parke as his own son. Parke was a barber by profession, the same trade as his step-father. Parke married Ruth Gibbs and had one daughter, Betty Jean. They were divorced before 1940. Later he married his second wife, Jonelle Garner. After the death of his stepfather in 1938 his mother lived with him. Parke lived to the age of 73 years.
