GONE TO HER REWARD.
MRS. F. M. ANDERSON DIES FROM COMPLICATION OF TROUBLES --- INVALID FOR SIX YEARS --- FUNERAL HELD AT M. E. CHURCH --- PALL BEARERS SELECTED FROM COMPANIONS OF HER SON.
Mrs. M. F. Anderson died at her home on East North street Monday morning from a complication of troubles of long duration. She had been an invalid for about six years, suffering great pain at times, but bore her suffering cheerfully and patiently .
Miss Lucinda Smith was born near Evergreen church, Lawndale township, in August 1855. She moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shelton Smith, to Lexington where she spent her girlhood days attending school, later graduating from the Lexington high school. She joined the M. E. church at Evergreen when quite a young girl and was one of the leading workers of the church, devoting much time and energy to the cause of Christ until her health failed her. She was united in marriage to Millard F. Anderson at Evergreen church, by Rev. Underwood, July 4th, 1880. They resided in Colfax for a few years where Mr. Anderson was engaged in business.
In the fall of 1886 they moved to South Dakota returning the next summer to their farm near Evergreen where they lived until August 1899, when they moved to Colfax, and have lived here ever since, except one winter they spent in Nashville, Tennessee. Besides her husband and one son, Lawrence, she is survived by two brothers and two sisters: Shelton L. of St. Paul, Minn.; Albert, of Lexington; Mesdames Scott and Ellis Watson, of Colfax.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p. m. in the M. E. church, services conducted by Rev. P. Baker, of Milford, a former pastor of the Christian church here and a warm friend of the family. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, completely covering the casket. The pall bearers were: Harry Arnold, Frank Espy, Buel Willhoite, Leo Gaddis, John Esler and Leo Chapman, all members of Lawrence's Sunday-school class.
The order of the Knights of Pythias of which Mr. Anderson is a respected member, attended the funeral in a body. The school was closed the afternoon of the funeral and many friends from out of town attended the funeral.
At her request she was buried in her bridal gown. The interment was in the Wiley cemetery.
