Anastasia was born in the village of Bednarka, which at the time was under the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and in what is now Southern Poland. According to birth records, She was the daughter of Joannas (John, as listed on later records) Popowczak and Anna Zynski. She was the eldest of 5 siblings; Anastasia Popivchak (Pavliszyer / Pauliczak / Paulizak), Irene Popivchak (Szewczyk / Scheftic / Sheftic), Andrew, Michael and Joseph Popivchak.

Marriage records show that she was the 2nd wife of Dempko (Pavliszyer / Pauliczak / Paulizak) and was married on January 24, 1898 in Helvetia, Pennsylvania.

Cause of death: Myocarditis;

Mrs. Nasta Paulizak died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Irene Sheftic, 263 1/2 Seymour Street at midnight last night, after an illness of two months. Mrs. Paulizak had been a resident of this city for over 30 years. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church. She is survived by one son, John; one sister, Mrs. Sheftic of Auburn; two brothers, Michael and Andrew Popivchak of Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The funeral will leave the house at 8 o'clock Saturday morning and services will be held at SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church at 8:30. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
