Ila's parents were Earl and Vivian (Fulmer) Hamilton. They farmed in the Wentworth and Rutland area. Ila graduated from Rutland High School and received her teaching certificate from General Beadle State Teachers College (now Dakota State University) at Madison. She taught at rural schools in Lake county. She married Graydon Hanneman on April 22, 1954 in Ramona at St Williams Catholic Church. After Graydon passed away in 1960, she married Donald Clancy at Madison in St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in 1965.
Ila and Donald farmed in the Orland area. She worked at Red Owl grocery store in Madison and was the Lake County Director of Equalization. After working for the county she did appraisals and worked part-time for the Rutland school.
She died at North Memorial Center Hospice in Robbinsdale.
She was survived by two daughters, still living, three sisters, and a granddaughter.
