He was a Revolutionary War Soldier serving in the Virginia Militia prior to, during and after the War. He served as Sergeant during the War and was appointed Ensign in 1794. His name is on the Monument to Revolutionary War soldiers of Giles County, along with his father, Parker, and his brother, Hezekiah, at Pearisburg, Giles County, Virginia.

Millington lived his entire adult life at the mouth of the Spruce Run of the Sinking Creek of the New River in what is today Craig County, Virginia. Most of his life the area was in Montgomery and Giles Counties.
