Richard Donald "Dick" Williams, 87, of Blue Springs, MO, formerly of Archie, MO, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015.

Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, MO. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. Kansas City, MO 64105.

Richard Donald "Dick" Williams was born April 27, 1927 in Independence, Mo., to Grace Woody & Homer Lee Williams.

He attended school at Pink Hill and Grain Valley High School where he graduated in 1945. He served in the US Navy from May 1945 to September 1946.

In July 1948, he married Sara Jane Tate. They were happily married for 45 years until her death in 1994. They made their home in Grain Valley until 1964 when they moved to a farm in St. Clair County (Collins, MO). In 1968, they moved to Windsor and in 1973 they moved to Archie, Mo. Dick resided in Archie until 2007 when he moved to Blue Springs.

Dick was employed at Witte Engine Works, Lake City Remington Arms, Bendix Corp. and Kansas City Power & Light where he worked until he retired in 1985.

He enjoyed traveling, hunting, gardening and woodworking. He loved making furniture & wooden toys.

He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 499 in Blue Springs, Mo. During this tenure he was elected Commander and served there faithfully.

He was preceded in death by his 1st wife: Sara Jane Williams and his 2nd wife: Gladys Eileen Williams, his parents: Homer & Grace Williams; brother: Clifford Williams.

He is survived by his 3 children: Nancy (Phillip) Delaney of Crary, ND, James (Kathy) Williams of Windsor, Mo., and Ruthann (Ronald) Crust of Branson, Mo.; one brother: Wayne Williams of Harrisonville, MO; six grandchildren Philip & Chris Clawson, Travis Williams, Randi McCann, Cody & Cierra Crust; and six great grandchildren: Sarah & Erin Clawson, Elijah Williams, Ethan, Paris, & Tyler McCann; 5 step-children from his second marriage to Eileen Williams in 2001.

He was called Popo by many of his grandchildren.
