The funeral for Jasper E. "Buddy" Hodges, 78, of Bassett, who died June 5, 2012, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, N.C., will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bassett Funeral Service with the Rev. Charles Waller officiating. Burial will be in County Line Church of God of Prophecy cemetery with military rites by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Hodges was born in Buchanan County on June 17, 1933, to Clarence Hodges and Betsy Ruth Hodges. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Mary J. Finkbine; and two sisters, Virginia Joyce and Lucy Spraker.

He was an Army veteran, and he had been a truck driver for more than 30 years. He attended God's House of Prayer.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Chrystal Lorraine Bouldin Hodges; two sons, Keith Hodges of Florida and Daniel Hodges of King, N.C.; one daughter, Linda Lawless of Florida; five stepsons, David Richardson of Bassett, Daniel Easter of Eden, N.C., Bobby Easter and Charlie Easter, both of Martinsville, and James Easter of Eden; three brothers, Alvin Hodges of Laurel Park, Jimmy Hodges of Ridgeway and Connie Hodges of South Carolina; five sisters, Hazel Lawson and Helen Perdue, both of Martinsville, Jean Hill of Kernersville, N.C., Vivian Harris of Ridgeway and Jackie George of Blacksburg; 35 grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
