George Henary was born in Tuscarawas County, Ohio and was the son of 1892–1942 George William and 1891-1971 Alpha Gooding.

George retired from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B & O). The B & O is one of the oldest railroads in the United States and the first common carrier railroad.

He sang county western music on radio when he was younger and called square dancing.

After retiring he took up farming and he had several horses. Almost every weekend we had hayrides and horse back riding at the farm. Some of his family would be there for the weekend and all would gather around the outside fire pit singing and reminiscing about days gone by.
