Solemn requiem high mass for Tech Sgt. Richard Coll Brackney of 1641 Chislett St., Morningside, will be sung at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael's Church. Sgt. Brackney was killed in action Dec. 14, 1945, while on a mission from St. Trond, Belgium, to Lichfield, Germany. He was a radio operator on a B-17 and had completed 23 combat missions. He served with the Eighth Air Force, 305th Group of the 366th Bombing Squadron. He was 20. He had been awarded the Air Medal and the Presidential Citation. Sgt. Brackney attended Peabody High School and entered service Oct. 11, 1943 on his 18th birthday. Surviving are two brothers, Charles F. and Edward J. Dinan; five sisters, Marie A. and Dorothy W. Brackney, Mrs. Margaret Eakin, Mrs. Jane Shields and Mrs. Kathryn Piper. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Byrne Memorial Home, 701 N. Negly Ave. Military services will be conducted by Morningside Post 3945, VFW. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Forty-sixth St.
