Mary Agnes Anglum was the daughter of William and Mary Anglum, Irish emigrants who moved to Ontario Canada around 1840. The Anglum family later immigrated to the US and eventually settled in Iowa.

Mary Agnes married Thomas Peyton in Council Bluffs Iowa, April 24 1876. The Peytons had seven children.
