87TH BIRTHDAY
Mrs. America Rout celebrated her 87th birthday at the home of her son, Mr. Jos. H. Rout, Saturday, when a fine dinner was enjoyed. ROUT - Mrs. America Rout, relict of Wesley Rout, died at the home of her son, Mr. J. H. Rout, Friday afternoon, aged 87. Her trouble was a general giving away, and while she was very frail, her mind was clear to the last. She oftentimes expressed her willingness to meet her Maker and her great desire to join her husband and son, Frank, who preceded her to the grave 12 and 30 years, respectively. Three children are left to mourn this godly mother, Mr. John W. Rout, the son mentioned above and Mrs. James B. Owens, and in their sorrow they have much sympathy. Mrs. Rout was a devout member of the Baptist church and worshiped at that church as long as her health would permit. She was one of those good, affectionate mothers who lived for her children and almost idolized them. Her love was requited too and the family was a most happy one. Mr. and Mrs. Rout lived together 57 years and to them were born 10 children, six of whom died in their infancy. She is the last of a family of 21 children. A large crowd gathered at her late home Sunday morning and heard Rev. W. E. Arnold preach a most excellent funeral service, after which the remains were taken to Buffalo cemetery and laid to rest between the husband and son referred to - it being a request that she made many years ago. Some hours before this splendid woman died she said to one of the family that she could see her husband so plainly. God grant that they are reunited and that her death is but the beginning of a new and blissful life.
