James Anders was the 7th child of James Andrews, Sr. and Martha Formby. He immigrated from Alabama to the Republic of Texas as a child with his family in Nov 1841 making him a citizen of the Republic of Texas. He married Sarah Rankin about 1858 possibly in Montgomery County, Texas. (A marriage license has not been located despite complete records in Montgomery County suggesting possibly a different county for their marriage.) James and Sarah had 5 children.

Tax records indicate that James had moved to Walker County before his death in 1900.

[Note that the book "Montgomery County, Texas Cemeteries Volume 1" mistakenly lists this person as buried in Scott's Ridge Cemetery.]
