Agnes Arnold 1885-1981
Being one of the older daughters, Aunt Agg was one of the girls that Grandma Larsen had time to teach to sew. And she did a lot of it - both dress making and "fancy work." She was also a good cook. While Uncle Ed was driving a gravel truck for N.J. Nelson, Aunt Agg did the cooking for the truckers, who lived in the early version of a mobile home. ( Actually, they were constructed of wood and looked like a boxcar on wheels - only smaller!) During those years, there was a great deal of road construction going on, and the gravel haulers were a large part of the job. Wherev er "N.J. " (Nelson) contracted for a job, the truckers went, and Aunt Agg followed the trucks and set up her "cook shack" to prepare the meals. Ummmm, good!
She was also a prolific reader of anything between covers of a book. It was only after glaucoma affected her eyes did she curtail her reading and sewing. She lived at Good Samaritan Center about five years when she could no longer live alone because of her failing eyesight and other health problems. Her obituary follows:
