BILOXI --- Retired Marine Corps Col. Ira L. "Shine" Morgan Jr., 73, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, in Biloxi.
Col. Morgan was a native of Oxford and had been a resident of the Coast since 1992. He retired as a colonel from the Marine Corps after 30 years of service and received the Legion of Merit with Combat "V" and the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious United Commendation for Gallantry. He served in Korea and Vietnam. Col. Morgan attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport.
Survivors include his wife, Susanne D. Morgan of Biloxi; a daughter, Martha Morgan Scott of Oxford; two sons, Ira "Shine" Morgan III of San Antonio, Texas and William F. Morgan of LaPlace, La.; a sister, Bessie M. Arrington of Prentiss; a brother, Edward A. Morgan of Oxford; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi where friends may call 30 minutes before service time. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
