MERCEDES, TX. - Andrea B. Dominguez, 90, joined our heavenly Father on June 11, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX. She was a lifetime resident of Mercedes, TX.
She was born on Jan. 19, 1922 to the late Santana and Elvira G. Barrera. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Uro Dominguez and grandchildren Angelin Dominguez and Rene Rodriguez.
During her youth she was involved in her family's funeral home and grocery store business. Later she joined her husband in operating the Dominguez Cafe. She was actively involved with the PTA organization, serving as president during her children's elementary school years and also a member of OLMC Altar Society.
Andrea is survived by her children, Myrthala (Danny) Rodriguez of McAllen, Fernando (Delia), Mario (Maria Alicia), and Rolando (Lidia) all from Mercedes. She is also survived by her sisters, Fidelia (+Segundo) De La Cerda and Viola (+Noe) Anzaldua, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the funeral home chapel with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be said today, June 13, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Mercedes. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery in Mercedes.
Pall bearers will be her grandsons, Mario, Jr., Santana, Isaac and Roli Dominguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark, Jessica and Cynthia Dominguez.
