ROLLA NEWMAN CROMWELL-MEAD DVM

Rolla was born Rolla Cromwell and was adopted by Dr. James Newman Mead and Anna Eliza Ashley living in Grand Rapids, Wood County, Ohio. Rolla took on the name Rolla Newman Cromwell-Mead. Rolla's biological parents were William Cromwell and Angeline Stoner. It was after Angeline's death in 1869 of malaria fever that the Mead's took in Rolla and adopted him. Rolla's father William Cromwell had a large family to care for and this adoption was probably out of necessity so the baby Rolla could be cared for.

Rolla married Louise Mahl who was also from Wood County, Ohio and they soon moved to Minnisota where Rolla worked for the USDA as a meat inspector working in various meat packing facilities in that state. In the 1910's Rolla and his wife Louise moved to Salt lake City Utah, then in 1927 Louise passed away. Rolla remarried to Leah F. Farr, widow of Rawsel Rossetter and daughter of Newton Farr and Martha Davis. Leah was the granddaughter of Lorin Farr, an early leader of the Mormon Church. She passed away in Salt Lake City in January of 1979.
