Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 children, Betty Lou Johnson; Mary Elizabeth Johnson Cline and siblings, George, Theodore, Cursey, C.B., Wayne and Willie Johnson; Bonnie Johnson, Helen Johnson, Ellen Johnson and Florence Bishop.
Mr. Johnson was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Other than his wife, he is survived by 6 children, Cecil Eugene Johnson and wife Frances of Lenoir; Richard Steve Johnson and wife Diane of Hudson; Kathryn Holman and husband David of Lenoir; Robert Van Johnson and wife Barbara of Hudson; Sandra Johnson of Hudson; Lorrie Johnson Ragan of Lenoir; 2 sisters, Leona Franklin of Delaware; Marie Hathaway and husband Charles of Knoxville, TN; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.
A celebration of Mr. Johnson's life will be held at 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hudson with Reverend Gary Cline officiating.
The family will receive friends at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service.
