Arabelle Emma Gadd was born 21 Feb 1894 in Raleigh County, a daughter of Emma Melissa Martin and husband Powell Wade Gadd.

She married Walter Martin in 1913 in Summers County, W.Va. (The transcription online erroneously lists her surname as "Judd.")

Mrs. Martin died on March 15, 1963, in Lewis County, W.Va.

NOTES: Mrs. Martin's obituary (Mrs. Arabelle Martin, Sunday, March 17, 1963, Page 2, Raleigh Register/Post-Herald) states she was to be was buried in Hilltop Cemetery, Summers County, W.Va. According to a researcher who visited her gravesite, her tombstone is at a burial site about a mile away. The Summers County, West Virginia, Historical Society Cemetery Book (1996), Page 332, lists her final resting place as Adkins (2) with a notation that her name "Was also listed in Esquire [cemetery]."
