Lawyer, state legislator, and circuit court judge, Glover was a member of Orangeburg Presbyterian Church. He represented Orange Parish in the South Carolina Secession Convention in December 1860. His home escaped the Union army's burning of the city in February 1865 because it was used by Sherman as his headquarters. Glover and David F. Jamison, signers of the S.C. Ordinance of Secession, are both buried in Orangeburg Presbyterian Cemetery.
