Henry Wright Dunn, Sr was a successful businessman and land owner in Conecuh County. He and a partner owned the local hardware store which served the entire county. Along with other partners, he was the second franchised Ford Dealer in Alabama and also represented Buick, which the folks at Ford were especially sensitive about! During the influenza epidemic of 1918, Henry was driving out of town to bring back a nurse to stay with the family and tend to some who were ill when his car stalled near the top of a hill. The car rolled backward and Henry was unable to control it. He crossed the railroad tracks and was struck by the #5 L&N train. He died 2 days later.
