John Powell Buried In Sterling Cemetery

John Powell, old resident of this community, living on a farm northeast of Sterling, passed away on January 11, 1940, at the age of 82 years and 9 months.
Mr. Powell was born in Iowa, and came to Nebraska when but two years of age with his parents who homesteaded here.
He was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Ganhart at Nebraska City, Nov. 8, 1883. Eight children were born to this union, six of whom are living, namely: Erwin Powell, Wade Powell, Tecumseh; John Powell, Sterling; Mrs. Ethel Rowe, Cook; Mrs. Mabel Kramer, Crab Orchard; Mrs. Elsie Walker, Omaha. There are 32 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The services were held at the Methodist Church, Sterling with Rev. Winker of Cook in charge.
The singers were Mrs. George Marrs, Mrs. W. C. Peterson, Claude Peterson and Rev. Winker and the accompanist was Mr. Paul Nauve.
Interment was in the Sterling cemetery.
