Leatrice Fern Daniels, 61, a long-time resident of Cannon Falls, died on Saturday evening, June 22, 1991 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was born on April 14,1930 in Goodhue County, the daughter of Carl and Emma (Lorenson) Bergstedt. She was a graduate of Cannon Falls High School, and worked for Althoff Hardware Store during her high school years. She married Henry B. Daniels on November 1,1952 at St. Ansgars Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. They moved to Huntington Park, CA, where she worked for one year with Bank of America, and then moved to St. Paul. They moved back to Cannon Falls in 1955, and she operated Leas Ready To Wear clothing store in downtown until 1979. During that time, she was active in the Downtown Merchants Association. She was a member of St. Ansgars Lutheran Church, where she was formerly active in the ladies circle and the church council, and was the first woman seated on the council. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Cannon Falls. She is survived by her husband Henry; her son Marc of St. Paul; sister Bernice Smith of Cannon Falls; brother Carl Bergstedt of Ninilichik, Alaska; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Ansgars Lutheran Church, with Pastor Guy Redfield officiating. Interment followed at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Richard and Carl Lee, Lance Smith, James Dibble, Glen Emery and Myron Dack. Honorary pallbearers were Violet Lorenson, Arlene Benson, Violet Strusz, Oliver Althoff, Charles Scofield, Lenora Rapp and Dale Lorenson. Arrangements by Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls.
