CALAIS and BELFAST - Ida Mae MacDonald, 90, passed away June 5, 2008, at a nursing home in Calais. She was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Amherst, daughter of Adelbert and Hattie (Giles) MacDonald. She worked on her farm most of her life and was a great cook. She always made family and friends feel welcome in her home. She was predeceased by her sisters, Velma Hayward, Berla Bailey, Ethel Chick, Delma MacDonald and Vesper MacDonald; and brothers, Leon, Lloyd, John, Victor and Roland. Ida is survived by her daughter, Virginia MacDonald of Connecticut; granddaughter, Martha Edmonds of Connecticut; seven great-grandchildren, Jerel, Jazmyn, Nicholas, Richard, Karen, Michael and Christopher; and niece, Linda Ryan of Belmont. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. June 21 at Am-herst Cemetery, Amherst. Arrangements under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
