ELBERON -- Mrs. Viola Ayers Rudloff, 76, of 213 Lewis st., an authority on Monmouth county genealogy and one-time literary editor of the New York Courier, died Tuesday at the Frances Convalescent home, Neptune City, after a long illness.

Mrs. Rudloff was born in Jerseyville, daughter of the late Holmes and Lydia Wolcott Ayers. On her father's side Mrs. Rudloff was descended from early settlers in Woodbridge. On her mother's side she was descended from the Wolcott family of Massachusetts and Connecticut, where members served as colonial governors and legislators.

During World War II Mrs. Rudloff was secretary-companion to Mme. Helena Paderewska, wife of the pianist, Jan Paderewski, when Mme. Paderewska was in this country organizing the Polish Relief agency.

A past president of the Elberon Women's club, she was active in Republican party politics many years ago, and was the first woman appointed treasurer of Ocean township, a post she held several years.

Surviving are a son, Everett Rudloff, of this place, manager of radio station WJLK, and a brother, LeRoy Ayers of Green Grove, New Shrewsbury.

The Woolley funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
