DEATH OF AN OLD MERCHANT

"At 10 minutes past 9 o'clock yesterday morning WILLIAM ELLERY SEYMOUR, one of the oldest and most respected merchants of New Orleans, died at his residence, No. 346 Carondelet street, in the 73d year of his age.

"Mr. Seymour was a native of Hartford, Connecticut. At the age of 20 he removed to New Orleans and has since made this city his home. For over thirty years he was connected with the firm of Stevens & Seymour. He had been failing in health for some time and a week ago last Thursday had a paralytic stroke, which was the immediate cause of his death. Mr. Seymour leaves a widow and a granddaughter and son.

"The funeral will take place this evening at 5 o'clock, from his late residence, the Rev. Dr. Palmer officiating in the last sad rites."
