Mrs. James Walkup Dies
Mrs. James Walkup, a resident of a nursing home at 428 Market St., who formerly lived on Rt. 5, died Thursday afternoon in the home. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Neil Heidrick, pastor of the Grace Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Mary Etta (Mollie) Tipton, the daughter of D.S.S. and Mary Rose Cochennet Tipton, was born April 22nd, 1890, in Emporia, and she was married to James W. Walkup May 30th, 1909, in Emporia. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Feb. 19th, 1958, and a daughter, Marjorie, and she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Peak, Rt. 5, and Mrs. Carl Herrick Jr., Rt. 3, Hartford; one brother, Hobart Tipton, 1127 West Fifth Ave.; six sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Trusler, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Ray Adams, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; Mrs. H.O. Browning, Rt. 5; Mrs. Estil Wilmeth, San Benito, Tex.; Mrs. Arthur Shivlar, Encino, Calif.; and Mrs. Clyde Littler, Cottonwood Falls; and three grandchildren, Kathleen, John and Michael Herrick, Cottonwood Falls.
