Jack D. Taylor, 78 of Springhill, Louisiana died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at his home in Springhill. He was born on April 7, 1933 in Danville, Illinois to the late Sherman and Beulah (Long) Taylor and was also predeceased in death by his brother, William H. Taylor.
Jack retired in 1993 as a Division Manager for Centurytel and was a member of the Walnut Road Baptist Church. He was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Master's Builders.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Taylor of Springhill; sons, Bradley Taylor and wife Cheryl of Beaumont, Texas and John Taylor and wife Kim of White Oak, Texas; daughter, Ann Bryant and husband David of Heflin, Louisiana; sister, Beverly Glenn of Fairmount, Illinois; grandchildren, Miles Taylor, Olivia Taylor, Sarah Taylor, Catherine Taylor, Chasity Gorum and husband Brandon, Kirstie Vollmer, and Jared Vollmer; step grandchildren, Laurie Linscomb, Megan Bryant, Krystin Bryant, and Joshua Bryant; great grandchildren, Grayson Gorum and Eythan Gorum.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Walnut Road Baptist Church with Bro. Jake Vandenberg officiating. Burial will follow at the Springhill City Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Springhill. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be David Bryant, Jared Vollmer, Adam Walker, Mike Reeves, Eric Simmons, and Johnny Edens.
