Ken graduated from Anacortes High School in 1948. He attended the University of Washington for two years. He also taught classes at the U of W in Traffic Management. He was the President of the Traffic Club in 1973.
Ken joined the Navy in 1951 and spent his Navy career aboard the USS Essex off the coast of Japan during the Korean Conflict. He made six trips across the Pacific on the Essex. He was discharged from the Navy in 1954.
He worked for Darigold as the Traffic manager until 1974. He then went to work for the Parsons Company of Pasadena, California until he retired in 1993. During his career at Parsons he was stationed in their offices around the world including Anchorage, Alaska, London, England, Dahuran, Saudi Arabia, and Seattle.
His favorite interest was singing and over the years he sang with The Gilbert & Sullivan League of Seattle, The 40 voice choir of the University of Seattle, The Everett Chorale, The Skagit Valley Choral, and of course his church choirs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Nels, Robert, and Benton, and his sister, Ruth Horn.
He is survived by his sisters, June Johnson and Lois Benson, of Oak Harbor; nieces, Kerry Dodson, Crystal Norman, Dana McPherson, Diane Johnson, and Linda Johnson; two great-nephews, Loren & Andrew; great-great-nephew Mika & great-great-niece Lily, of Melbourne, Australia, and Dirk & Kathy Van Wagoner & their family, of Provo, Utah.
Memorial services will be May 25th at the Presbyterian Church, 1511 E. Broadway, Mount Vernon, WA at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Washelli Cemetery in Seattle at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Whatcom County Hospice or a charity of your choice .
