Co., 1878, Mound Prairie Township & obits) By 1870 the census lists Charles as a farmer with $3000 in real estate and $700 in personal estate. Wife Elizabeth was 'keeping house,' son John was a 'farm laborer', Mary was 'Without Occupation,' George W. was 'farmer,' and Susan was 'in school.'
Charles is listed in the Jasper Co., IA cemetery book transcription (p. 853) as being buried in Colfax cemetery, plot 94. Transcription: Plot 94 illegible/ DANIEL, CHARLES M DIED 1 JUN 1875 AGED 36Y 26D. The age is most probably incorrect- he would have been 56 years old, per census records and other resources. In 2010 their headstones could not be found in the cemetery.
