He became a radio broadcaster for KVEG which was the first country radio station in Las Vegas. Howard also started an advertising angency and public relations firm called The Five Star Group. Personal achievements included inductee into Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame, recognition by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce for Community Achievement and Humanitarianism and Volunteerism in many organizations including the American Diabetes Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marian Trelstad.
He is survived by his two sons, Harry(Kim)Trelstad and Howard "Howie" Trelstad Jr.; brother, Don Trelstad; cousin, Norma Scharpen, and three grandchildren
