Zelma "Tiny" Meyer, age 85, of Rock Valley, died Friday, December 24, 1999 at the Hegg Memorial Hospital at Rock Valley. Funeral Service was 2:00 p.m. Monday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church at Rock Valley. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley. Rev. Jim Demke officiated. Visitation was Sunday with the family present 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Porter Funeral Home at Rock Valley.
Zelma "Tiny" was born June 20, 1914 at Sibley, IA, daughter of Charles and Minnie (Hundley) Saunders. She married Raymond Meyer on January 12, 1935 at Atchison, Kansas. Together they lived at Paullina, IA until moving to Sibley, IA in 1942 and owning and operating a cafe. In 1946 they moved to Rock Valley where they owned several cafes thru the years until retirement in 1972. Raymond died September 30, 1994. Tiny was involved with the Foster Grandparent Program since if s beginning 26 years ago.
Surviving relatives include one son and his wife Donnie and Wilma Ransom of Akron, IA; son-in-law Richard Wissink of Rock Valley; two grandchildren and their spouses Keith and Gretchen Wissink of Sioux Center, IA, Kathy and Doug Klarenbeek of Hudson, SD; three brothers, Clarence Saunders of Hemet, CA, Raymond and his wife Julia Saunders of Hemet, CA, Fritz and his wife June Saunders of Reedsport, OR; three sisters, Lorraine Minear of North Hollywood, CA, Delia and her husband Henry Harjehausen of Lebanon, OR, Kate Guertin of Anaheim, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond two daughters, Merla Ceil Ransom and Barbara Wissink; brothers Dallas and Butchie; sister Lottie.
