Rev. Delbert L. Spall, 92, of Crothersville passed away May 18, 2012, at the Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown, with family by his side.
Rev. Spall was born in Crothersville, Jennings County, Indiana, on May 31, 1919, the son of the late Freeman and Freda (Moore) Spall.
On August 28, 1940, he married Mary Ellen McMorris, who survives.
Rev. Spall started evangelizing in 1949, beginning with revivals in Seymour and Medora, Indiana, and in 1954 became pastor of West Side Pentecostal Church in Indianapolis, where he served 35 years. He was a man of faith, who served the Lord as a licensed minister for United Pentecostal Church International for 60 years and was a wonderful respected resource that God used for the salvation and healing of many souls. He was a wonderful Christian example whose life was devoted to his ministry, his church members, and his family. He was full of compassion and readily showed concern and kindness to those who were underprivileged.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary Ellen; 2 sisters: Kathleen and Helen McClain; Children: Thomas (Bettie) Spall, Jeanne Moss, Larry (Glenda) Spall and Susan (Race) Henderson; 10 grand children: Ron (Kathleen) Spall, Darlene (Kenny) Bailey, Denise (Kenny) Lee, Drucilla Darring, Clayton and Caleb Henderson, Dara, Darius, Seth and Josiah Spall; 5 great grandchildren: Karah (Johnny) Lowthorpe, Kristina, Patrick & Kaitlyn Bailey, and Jordan Minton; 1 great great grandchild: Joshua Stewart.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Kenneth Spall, and 1 great grandson, Eric Spall.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Pentecostal
Tabernacle with Rev. Larry Arrowood and Rev. Anthony Oliver officiating.
Family and friends may call at Voss Chapel on Tuesday, May 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11 a.m.
Burial will be at the Uniontown Cemetery with a Voss Dove release.
