Besides being a wonderful wife and mother to four children, Mary played the organ in the Methodist church. Her son would pump the organ so she could play.

She had a very loving heart and through out her entire life she would travel about Minneapolis on cable cars and later buses to visit with home-bound and nursing home elderly, taking care of their needs, praying with them, and offering caring friendship.
