MADISON - Bertha M. Alderman, age 85, died on Tuesday, December 14, 1999. She was born on August 19, 1914 in Muscoda, Wisconsin, the daughter of Albert and Ann (Wickendoll) Kratochwill. She worked for many years as a nurse's aide for UW Hospital. Bertha volunteered for many years for RSVP. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #481. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Jerry) Johnson of Madison; three grandchildren, Scott (Tonia) Ready of Sun Prairie, Eric Johnson of Argyle, and Kelly (Ted) Johnson-Guy of Oslo, Norway; four greatgrandchildren; a sister, Leona Lewis of Madison; a brother, Gerald (Barbara) Kratochwill of Madison; a special niece, Sharon (Richard) Nachreiner of Montello; two special great-nieces, Doreen Nachreiner and Colleen Vischulis; and other special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William, in 1988; a sister, Lois; and a brother, Nordell. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 17, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Avenue, wi th Father Michael Hippee presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 a.m. unt il time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church.
