Eulyne Morgan Adkins (1909 - 2010)

DALLAS, TX/ SHONGALOO, LA - Born on October 9, 1909, Shongaloo, Louisiana, and moved to her Heavenly Residence on July 22, 2010 - 100 years, 9 months old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, M.D. Adkins.

She is survived by three sons, Doug (wife Carole), Bob (wife Suzette), and Ron (wife Alice), Adkins of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren - Mindy, Gregory, David, Christopher, Alexander, Micah and Andrew - and fourteen great grandchildren - a brother, Willie D. Morgan of Lafayette, Louisiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Northwestern State College of Natchitoches as the outstanding woman athlete, and was recognized as an all American basketball player while playing for the Meadows Draughon Business School of Shreveport. She taught school at Evergreen and Shongaloo and worked for over 30 years with the Louisiana Department of Public Welfare. She served as a leader in many civic organizations and was a member of the Old Shongaloo Methodist Church, but she attended Mt. Paran Baptist Church every Sunday with the love of her life, her husband M.D. She felt her sweet family was her greatest achievement. Mom Ene was idolized by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. As the matriarch for the O.C. Morgan family, she was known for her strong Christian faith, love of family, fabulous food, unselfish generosity and unfailing wisdom which served her well as a confidant and encourager to many. Mom Ene was a kind and gracious lady whose boundless hospitality was known to all. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman.

A celebration of her home-going will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 211 Murrell Street, Minden, Louisiana, at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2010. The family will receive visitors at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Saturday, July 24, 2010 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The funeral will be under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA.
