BMCM in 19 year Coast Guard career. He was the last live-in lighthouse keeper of the Mayport Lighthouse located in the Mayport Naval Base. He was the last enlisted man to have his own command at sea for 4 years on the Point Roberts Coast Guard Cutter. He had many other honorable career highlights. After retiring, he worked as a tugboat dispatcher for Moran Towing.

He was married twice, first to Jennie Burnhardt (10-5-63) with three children born to that union, Paul III, Michael and Dawn. His second marriage was to Beckie Saar (Kastelic) Leone (3-17-90) before his untimely death from cancer.
