Heart Attack Claims Little League Enthusiast
Lawrence A. Wise, 76, died Wednesday of an apparent heart attack.
He was born near Lawrence, Kansas on December 29, 1905 and moved to Broken Arrow in 1965 after retiring from 38 years of service as a rural letter carrier in Stroud.
In Broken Arrow he was active as a coach and manager of Little League baseball teams. He coached four of his grandsons and his teams won five championships.
He was an active member of the Memorial park Christian Church in Tulsa. Wise also was active with the Republican Party and served as the chairman of his precinct at the time of his death. He was involved in scouting, the Elks, and served as the Master of the Stroud Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; his brother, Gene M. Wise of Kerrville, Texas; a son, Donald A. Wise; a daughter Dorothy R. Bryce and five grandsons, John H. Bryce, Jr., Phillip Alan Bryce, Edward James Bryce, Lawrence Richard Bryce and Kurt Geoffrey Wise, all of Broken Arrow.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 2, at the Memorial Park Christian Church in Tulsa. Interment will be at the Floral Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Marlin Funeral Home.
