She was born on July 12, 1915, in La Crosse to Julius and Adeline (Niebuhr) Kircheis. She married Linus M. Abts on Nov. 22, 1952, and had three children: Paul Abts, Ruth (John) Vach and Daniel (Shirley) Abts, all of La Crosse. She is also survived by her sister, June Carr of Western Springs Ill.; grandchildren, Michael, Michelle and David Abts and Kevin and Sara Vach; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 8, 1994; parents; and a twin brother, Glen.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, camping, traveling and being outdoors. She was a longtime member of Mary Mother of the Church Catholic Church.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at Mary Mother of the Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse. The Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. Entombment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum at the Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church. Memorials can be given to Mary, Mother of the Church Parish or Franciscan Skemp Hospice.
