Injured by a Motorcar.

Mrs. Guy Rogers, colored, is in the St. Mary's hospital with serious cuts and bruises received in a motorcar accident Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. She is not in a critical condition.

The accident occurred on the New Santa Fe trail west of Emporia near Sunny Slope street. Mrs. Rogers had alighted from a bus and started to cross the street to a store. As she emerged from behind the bus, an Oldsmobile driven by Dr. Gladdis Armor, osteopath, came from the east. The car struck Mrs. Rogers and knocked her down. An ambulance was called and the injured woman was taken to the hospital.

Mrs. Rogers suffered a deep cut on her right leg and other bruises. No bones were broken and it is thought no internal injuries were suffered.

Mrs. Rogers is 41 years old and lives at Ninth and Woodland.

Colored Woman was Hit by Car October 5.

Funeral Will Be Held Tuesday Afternoon in Mount Olive Church.

Mrs. Guy Rogers, colored, died Friday night in St. Mary's hospital of injuries received October 5 on the New Santa Fe trail in the west part of Emporia when she was accidentally struck by a motorcar driven by Dr. Gladdis Armor, osteopath.

The accident occurred after Mrs. Rogers had alighted from a bus and was emerging from the rear of the car to cross the street. Dr. Armor was driving an Oldsmobile car from the east. An ambulance was called and Mrs. Rogers was taken to the hospital, where it was determined her spine was broken and she had sustained other injuries.

Mrs. Rogers was born May 16, 1885 in Cumberland, Ky., and she came to Emporia when she was 7 years old. Her maiden name was Myrtle Tilda Harrison and she was married in Emporia in 1900 to Jess Reeves. Her second marriage was to Guy Rogers, May 16, 1907, in Emporia. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Mount Olive A.M.E. church.

She is survived by Mr. Rogers and one son, Louis Reeves, of Emporia. Three sisters and three brothers also survive. They are: Mrs. Laura Holt, Leslie Harrison and Robert Harrison, of Emporia; Mrs. Lela Otter, Mrs. Sarah Rain, and Frank Harrison, of Los Angeles.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Mount Olive A.M. E. church. Rev. C.A. Long, pastor of the church, and Rev. Robert S. Everett, of Emporia, presiding elder of the Wichita district, will conduct the services. Interment will be made in Maplewood cemetery.
