Maud Brown was a charter member of the Governor Treutlen chapter of the DAR of Fort Valley, being eligible for membership through descent from Joseph Catchings, born 1762 in Maryland, died 1806 in Green Co. Georgia, having served in the Revolution as a private soldier, for which service he was given government bounty land. (This info from early Bassett family records of Lucy Cornelia Bassett, her daughter).
