Kenneth Dale Carey passed away June 5, 2012 at his home in Lander. He was 82 years old.

Ken was born June 1, 1930 in Wheatland, Wyo. at his family's rural home. He was the son of Mary Etta (Goebel) Carey and Ralph Wesley Carey. He worked on the family's dry land farm and was educated in Wheatland where he met his future wife, Betty Mae Sherwood. They were married March 20, 1953.

The family moved from Wheatland to California and later back to Wyoming and finally settled in Douglas. Ken had several occupations over the years from being a radio and television announcer, farmer, mechanic and truck driver. He was most remembered for his 35 years with NAPA Auto Parts in Douglas, where he worked until his retirement and moved to Lander in 1999.

Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty; sons David of Lander; Doug and his wife Janet of Casper; John of Douglas and daughter Mary Hopper and her husband Randy of Casper. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and soon to be 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He had a special love for all babies and children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

A viewing was held June 10 at Hudson's Funeral Home.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held July 14 at 1 pm at the Douglas Cemetery.

Ken enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and working on engines, cars and eating ice cream. He and Betty were the inspiration for the Ken and Betty's Ice Cream Shop.
