Melvin Levi Detrick Abrahams of Owatonna, died Sunday, Sept. 8 at Owatonna Hospital. He was 80.
Melvin Abrahams was born Dec. 1, 1921 in Taylor, N.D., son of John and Elisa (Reins) Abrahams. He moved to Minnesota with his parents when he was 7 years old.
He worked on the family farm until he was old enough to work for other farmers.
On March 30, 1948, he married Rosalyn Behne in Owatonna.
Mr. Abrahams and his wife farmed in Aurora Township until moving to Owatonna in 1966.
He then worked for Nelson Equipment for 15 years. In 1981, he returned to doing field work for area farmers. He retired in 2001.
Mr. Abrahams was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Havana Township.
He enjoyed fishing.
Melvin Abrahams is survived by his wife, Rosalyn; a brother, Carl Abrahams of Owatonna; a sister, Dorothy Strong of Belgrade, Mont.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and seven sisters.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Havana Township. The Rev. Giles Zimmer will officiate. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Michaelson Funeral Home, 1930 Austin Road, Owatonna, and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
