Correne P. Mixa, age 81, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center with her loving family at her side. Correne was born August 20, 1930, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. She was the only child of the late John and Myrtle (Londo) Neumann. Correne attended St. Luke's Catholic School in Two Rivers and Washington High School in Two Rivers, graduating with the class of 1948. She attended The Cradle School of Nursing in Evanston, Illinois, and became a certified infant nurse. On May 20, 1950, she married Charles D. Mixa at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. They were married by the Msgr. C.V. Hugo. Charles preceded her in death on June 9, 2011. Correne worked at Two Rivers Community Hospital and Memorial Hospital. She was also a first aid nurse at Hamilton Industries in Two Rivers for 13 years. She also worked at the Hamilton Home in Two Rivers as a certified nursing assistant. Correne was a member of the Ladies of St. Peter the Fisherman and a member of the Two Rivers Historical Society. She loved reading, knitting, and had a loving devotion to her family. She and Charles enjoyed many summers at their seasonal campsite in Door County where they made many friends.

Survivors include three sons, Michael (Julie) Mixa, Chuck (Barb) Mixa, Jon (Stella) Mixa; three daughters, Kay (Bill) Bero, Nancy (Dave) Legois, Sue (Jerry) Stanull, all of Two Rivers; thirteen grandchildren, Brett (Marcia) Bero, Bridget (Dan) Ott, Kelly (Matt) Barden, Tracy (Dwayne) Moreau, Adam (Nickee) Mixa, Nicole (Ken) Frank, Travis Legois and his friend Brittany Gabel, Jason (Cristy) Wanek, Kristi Lee Wanek and her friend Shawn Kaiser; Taylor Mixa, Dane Mixa; Stephanie (Josh) Willis, Zachary (Heather) Stanull; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Lois Tittl, and Judy and Hal Labensky, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her in-laws, Victor and Genevieve Mixa, and one brother-in-law, Clarence Tittl.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2012, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Tom Reynebeau, with entombment of her cremated remains to be held at a later date at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum.
