MR. TOM J. YOUNG passed away at his home in Royston Monday night, March 30th.
Mr. Young had been in ill health 4 ½ years, having had a stroke of paralysis, although he lived his life so cheerfully and with a smile for everyone.
Mr. Young was born in Stephens County, February 20, 1866, and had lived here nearly all his life. He joined the Methodist church in early childhood. He was married to Miss Sarah Catherine Wheeler 46 years ago, who survives him.
He is also survived by 6 children, Mrs. M. C. Jarrett of Tugalo, Messrs. Frank and Fred Young of Cornelia, Harry Young of Toccoa, Mrs. Uel Johnson of Royston, and Mrs. D. W. Sanders of Spartanburg, SC, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; 1 stepsister, Mrs. Mose Hayes of Toccoa, 1 stepbrother, Jim Crawford of Mize. Also, he is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Will S. Davis of Toccoa, Dr. Frank Davis of Macon, Mrs. Ellen Collins, Mrs. Will Friar and Mrs. Mattie McKay of Toccoa, Mrs. Freeman Hunter of Atlanta, Mr. John Kelley of Lula.
He was laid to rest at Confidence Wednesday afternoon with Joe T. Cunningham, of Royston, in charge. Pallbearers were Messrs. Jim R. Acree, Johnnie Crawford, Plumer and Joe Crawford, Fred Hayes and Dr. J. H. Terrell.
Re. A. E. Bussey and Rev. Eugene Coe and Rev. Johnson of Toccoa, conducted the funeral.
