MELLO VIRGINIA ARNOLD,93, of Dresden, died Sunday, February 22, 2009, at Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center in Dresden. Funeral services for Mrs. Arnold were held Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Dr. Don McCulley officiated the services.
Mrs. Arnold was a retired restaurant manager at the T-Room and a member of Maplewood Baptist Church in Paris. She was born in Hazel, Kentucky to the late John Aaron and Luia Bell Boyd Hopper. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Arnold was also preceded in death by two husbands, Mr. Roy Abernathy and Mr. Jessie Ray Arnold.
Mrs. Arnold is survived by two stepdaughters, Sharlott (Jim) Swanger of Dandridge, Tennessee, and Rhonda (Jim) Edwards of Brighton, Tennessee; a stepson, Steve (Darla) Arnold of Knoxville; two nephews, Kermit (Martha) Hopper of Dresden, and J. W. (Mertie Sue) Kirkland of Martin; five step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Ken Kirkland, Kermit Hopper, Brent Hopper, Jamie Tuck, Jim Edwards and Steve Arnold served as pallbearers. Mrs. Arnold was born in Hazel, Ky., daughter of the late John Aaron and Lula Bell Boyd Hopper. She was the widow of Roy Abernathy, a retired restaurant owner of the T-Room and a member of Maplewood Baptist Church in Paris. Survivors include her husband, Jessie Ray Arnold of Brighton, one daughter, Rhonda (Jim) Edwards of Brighton; one stepdaughter, Sharlott (Jim) Swanger of Dandridge; one stepson, Steve (Darla) Arnold of Knoxville; two nephews; Kermit (Martha) Hopper of Dresden and J. W. (Mertie Sue) Kirkland of Martin; five step grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.
