The Crawley, Louisiana native was the son of the late Rev. Charles O'Neale Martindale and Drue Boyd Martindale. He served in the Merchant Marine Corps for seven years after graduating from High School and served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church. Survived by wife, one daughter, three sons, twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Evelyn Martindale Thom of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
