Diana Ricker was born in Bakersfield, California, on June 5, 1963, to Frank and Dolores Hernandez. She moved to Tehachapi as a teenager, where she met the love of her life, Mark Ricker. While attending Tehachapi High School, Diana participated in softball and volleyball. She graduated in 1981 and married Mark in 1984, after three years of dating. Mark and Diana had four daughters together, Megan, Hannah, Laney, and Shelby. Diana, who had been employed since she was 15, left the workforce to care for her daughters. Almost four years ago, after her daughters were older, she returned to work at Tehachapi City Hall.
Diana was a wonderful and loving mom not only to her children, but also to the kids that she baby-sat and her daughters' friends, all of whom loved her dearly. Diana enjoyed watching her girls play sports, making jewelry, gardening, photography, playing blackjack, and going on family vacations. She will always be remembered for her beautiful and friendly smile, for which she was nicknamed "Smiley" by Mark.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Dolores Hernandez. She is survived by her husband, Mark Ricker; daughters, Megan, Hannah, Laney, and Shelby; son-in-law, Chris Bowman; her first grandson, Luke; as well as her sister, Mary Anne Steele; and nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at the Church of Christ, and interment followed at Tehachapi Public Cemetery - Westside on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Minister Russ Lawson officiated the services. Pallbearers included Chris Bowman, Jared Ricker, Colton Messier, Jacob Ricker, Mike Ricker, and Jay Lewis. Wood Family Funeral Service was entrusted with her care.
