Nellie Holbrooks Gibson, 89, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010.
Born in Macon Co., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Huggins and Ethel Welch Huggins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Holbrooks; second husband, Lex Gibson; a daughter, Helen Barrett and two sisters, Evelyn Fouts and Bedell Huggins.
Nellie loved to quilt; was a Sunday school teacher for many years; enjoyed caring for and provided health care for the elderly. She was a member of Mashburn Branch Baptist Church.
She is survived by two children, Carolyn Bell and husband Don of Franklin and Boyd Holbrooks of Franklin; sister, Ann Tallent of Franklin; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 4, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Ernie Sanders, Rev. Randy Drinnon and Rev. Cadon Fouts will officiate. Burial will be in the Burningtown Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Barrett, Jim Barrett, Mike Holbrooks, Jim Fouts, Jerry Tallent and Mark Doolittle.
