Horace 'Pen' Pendleton, age 99, of Country Meadows Retirement Home in Bridgeville,
formerly of Crafton, died peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2014, surrounded by his
family.

Husband of 61 years to the late Carolyn 'Babe' Matalic Pendleton, he was the beloved
father of Paul (Frances), Bob (Linda), Ronald (Diane), Kenneth (Mary Grace), John
(deceased), Dennis and Mike (Mary) Pendleton; grandfather of Jim, Joe (deceased), Maura,
Lisa, Laura, Sheri, Ron, Christopher, Heather Gwen, Nathan, Jonathan and David, and
great-grandfather of Jordan, Mackenzie, Bailey, Macey and Joey.

Pen was formerly an airplane mechanic for U.S. Steel for 20 years and previously worked
at Capital Airlines. After retirement, he volunteered and worked for over 25 years at
Beaver County Airport, Air Heritage, restoring antique World War II airplanes including
the infamous B-17 bomber. Horace was fond of traveling, especially to visit his home
state of Maine on the island of Isleboro and relatives in Florida and Kansas. He also
made several memorial trips to Alaska, a couple driving the AL-CAN from the continental
United States through Canada and into Alaska. Pen was a former scout master of Boy Scout
Troop 146 in Crafton as well as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
